Figs and Rouge Cherry Blossom Lip Balm

When I first got this in the June Glossybox I was very much in two minds about this product. I was excited to have a new lip balm to try, but I was unsure how I felt about the multitasking qualities of the product and the application took me a while to get use to.
All of the ingredients that this lip balm has are 100% natural and pure and contain things like antioxidants, and it just claims to be very nourishing and smoothing. Being the cherry blossom flavour this gives your lips a red tint, the other flavour that they do is Coco-Rose which I assume gives a pink tint.
The packaging of this is designed with girls on the go in mind, it comes in a squeeze tube which allows it to have a thinner consistency than a twist up lip balm but you dont need to use your fingers because you can apply it right from the tube, for people who want to put lip balm on while on the go and dont want to get germs from their hands in their lip balm this is good - they also suggest taking it to festivals with you.
This is a multi tasking product which they say can put used as a cuticle balm, to add some hydration to your elbows and knees, on the eyelids for some shine or even to tame your eyebrows. I personally don't like the idea of using tinted lip balm, or any lip balm, as a multi use product I always just imagine it becoming a greasy mess, but if you are on the go and don't mind a multi use balm this would be perfect to take with you because it is small and light.

As far as the balm itself is concerned I do enjoy it, the smell reminds me or cherry drops but there are cherry scents that I  like better, but they are most likely a much more artificial scent than this one has. I gives a red juicy finish to the lips and like I have said it is a thinner consistency than most lip balms which doesn't make it feel greasy on the lips it just feels like a thick lip gloss, but Im not overly keen on the feeling so I like to apply this before I go to sleep and then when I wake up my lips feel amazingly smooth.
I have no idea why my hand looks so pale, I think its a result of taking photos outside.
A full size is 12.5ml which is a good amount for lip balm and costs £5

Embrace Your Natural Curls

I have started to notice that when I dont brush my hair after washing it I get a few pretty curls at the ends and for a while now I have wanted to embrace these more and I have recently stumbled upon the method I am going to share with you today and I love it.
Dont mind the messy room, Im working on it
I find this is best to do the night before so that you can let our hair dry naturally while you sleep, however if you are doing this in the morning you can use a hair dryer to dry your hair.

All you will need is a hair band or two, a salt spray - I have been trying out the Bamboo Style Boho Waves Texture Mist - and wet/damp hair.
The first thing you will want to do is part you hair where you want it to fall and resit the urge to brush your hair, unless you have a massive knot or have the type of hair which really does need a brush through to make sure it doesn't have extreme knots but even then try to keep the brushing to a minimum and try to use your fingers so that you don't flatten the natural curls too much.
Taking your salt spray spritz it in to your hair and scrunch it to really work the product in.
The Bamboo Style Boho Waves Texture Mist that I have been using contains lots of natural and sustainable ingredients like organic bamboo and blue yucca root. As well as giving beachy waves, it gives a touch of volume and a shine to your hair.
But if you dont have this spray dont worry you can use whatever salt spray you want.
The next step is to make the buns that which give the curls most of their shape and make them look super natural. You can do just one bun if you want, I like to do 2 but again you can do as many as you want - the more you do the more curls you will have.
To make the buns separate my hair in to two sections, and taking the fist section I twist it until it starts to fold in on itself, at that point you want to fold it to form a lose bun like I have pictured bellow, and then just secure with a hair band. Before moving on to the second section
I have used the metal free hair bands because they are less likely to break your hair so I like to think they are a better option.

It will take a while for your hair to dry so I tend to sleep with the buns in and when I wake up they are dry, however like I said before if you are in a rush you can take a air dryer to the buns.
When you take the buns out you will be left with the your natural curls but better.
If you find that after you take out the buns you would like to enhance some of the curls further just spray some more of the Texture Mist into the hair and reshape the curls around your fingers.
Then all that is left is accessorize your hair as desired.

MEMEME Beat the Blues Highlighter: Worth the Hype?

Around the whole beauty community there has been a lot of positive things said about this and it has been said to be a dupe for Benefits High Beam. I have really wanted to get my hands on this but my local Superdrug doesn't stock MEMEME so it has been hard for me to get my hands on this, but I was lucky enough to find this sitting in my April Glossybox.
Like a lot of liquid highlight products this come in a nail polish style bottle which unlike other products that I have tried this has a really good brush which has a lot of movement, is really soft and doesnt have an hairs sticking out all over the place. The bottle looks really pretty from the front with a swirly fount and pattern so it looks cute in your make up stash.

The product itself is a pink shimmery highlight that you can use anywhere that you want on your face that you feel needs a bit of glow. Being a liquid product means that you dont want to put this on your face after powdering it works best going over cream/liquid foundation because then it doesnt end up rubbing your powder off, cos let me just tell you they is not a good look. It has a very glowy finish with shimmer, but not glitter face, and it just makes you look very fresh and healthy.
However, being one of those people that has oily skin this will be more of something to save for the winter when I dont have the worry of using cream highlighters and ending up looking like an oily mess. Because I put powder over the top to make sure the oil is controlled it covers up some of the amazing finish that this has.

I do think that this is worth the hype if you have the right skin type for it (normal-dry) and can get away with not putting powder over the top. A little goes a long way with this and I recommend just putting a little on to start with a building the 'color' up, and trust me this bottle will last you a long time, I cant see myself ever getting through this.

You can find this in most superdrug stores for £5.50 for 12ml, a bargain in comparison to the Benefit HighBeam retailing for £19.50

TRESemme Instant Refresh Dry Shampoo

So this have been raved about by the beauty community and when it arrived in my April Glossybox I was overjoyed to see it.
I am always interested in trying new dry shampoos because having brown hair means that often dry shampoos can lead to white residue being left in my hair, so what I look for in a dry shampoo is grease coverage, easy to work into my hair with out leaving any trace and a touch of volume. This delivers on all three of those areas.
It says that it removes odour from the hair but when my hair needs a wash it doesn't develop odour so I cant tell you if this is true or not, however when first sprayed this has an amazing perfume scent to it but I dont find it lasts in my hair. Although it does work to your advantage when you want to use it in public because people wont be smelling it and wondering what (and why) someone has sprayed.
This is a clear dry shampoo so perfect for quick application because you dont have the worry of  missing a bit and being left with white patches in her hair, especially good for people like me with brown that's hard to blend the white powder in. It deals with grease easily and leaves your hair feeling clean with some added volume for that extra spring in your step.

You can find this in all supermarkets and drug stores for £4.99 for a 200ml bottle but if you shop around they often have offers going on.

Talk to you soon

May 2014 Glossybox: Summer Beauty Edit

To celebrate both the 3rd Birthday of Glossybox and the 50th anniversary of Superdrug the two have teamed up to create the summer beauty edit which they promised would contain at least 4 full size products as well as some extra bonus products.
Everything that I got in my box I am pleased with and will use, not to mention aside from the bonus products everything I got was full size.

Illuminating Facial Bronzing Cream
Full Size = 100ml - £2.99
Im not 100% sure what this is, the pot says that it is a fake tan for the face but from reading about it, it looks to deliver radiance for a healthy and luminous glow. So I will have a play before sharing my feelings about it with you.
This cream contains lots of ingredents which benefit the skin, for example aloe vera and vitamin E to soften and hydrate the skin. Im thinking this will be a 'good skin day' where you can just put this on with a touch of concealer and some translucent powder while still getting a glow and bronze tint.

Rimmel London
Scandaleyes Retro Glam Mascara
Full Size = 12ml - £6.99
I loved the original, read the review here, so Im hoping that this one will be just as good. It claims that the hourglass shaped wand plumps and curves the lashes so that your lashes look fake and eyes look wider.
I have a few mascaras I need to try still but this one will add to the collection and I look forward to using it.

2True Pro
3D Candy Nail Art
Full Size = 8g - £3
This is a bottle of pink and black nail beads which are used to create a caviar manicure which was very on trend a couple of summers ago, although it can be a hassle to apply when done right and for a special occasion these sort of things can be the a really fun alternative to just painting your nails.

Large Doughnut Ring
Full Size - £3.99
I already have a brown one of these that I love to use, so having an extra one will come in handy for things like travel or when I just misplace one of them.

I Love Cosmetics
Strawberries and Milkshake Shimmer and Shine Lip Gloss
Full Size = 15ml - £1.29
This very much reminds of a lip gloss you would have as a child, the plastic taste and slight plastic undertones in the scent of the gloss.
Its a very pretty slightly nude pink toned lip gloss with shimmer in it that is a great product to just have in your bag for on the go because it will look good over a nude lip but the color is subtle enough that it can put used over a brighter shade without looking funky.

Bonus Products
These two products are the sort of things that Glossybox has given as actual products and people are never happy to see, however as a bonus product they are the sort of thing that people will be happy to get.

Oil Beauty Lotion
Full Size = 250ml - £4.99
Sample Size = 10ml - £0.19
This is a lotion that I will be waiting for the Winter to try because it is for dry skin with a range of replenishing oils like almond, argan and macademia.
This foil sample will give you one to two uses, not quite enough time to see if you like it, but enough to know if you will have a negative reaction to it.

GHOST Fragrances
Full Size = 50ml - £33
Sample Size = 2ml - £1.32
This smells amazing, it is a floral fruity scent that has an amber base, its one of those scents that will work for you in all seasons which is perfect for those girls that like to have just one perfume that they can use all the time. I like that this comes in a spray bottle because it is easier to try it rather than dealing with a tip bottle where I often cant be bothered.

I really did enjoy the box this month and hope that Glossybox keeps up the good work of full size products that I want to use.
This month my box was worth - £19.77

Yu-Be Moisturizing Skin Cream

This is the product from the January Glossybox which really had people up in arms because it is such a small sample and the sort of thing that you are able to pick up for free in a department store, but you know I gave it a go, and loved it.
This is Japanese lotion which can be used on any area of your body, including your lips, which is severely dry. The reason that it is so hydrating is because of the high glycerin content and the range of vitamins it contains - B2, C and E.
I have heard that it is common for people to be allergic to glycerin so if your not sure if you are test a small amount of this lotion on your wrist to see if an reaction happens, if it doesn't you will be safe to use this.

Like I said I did love this and when I had (TMI alert) really dry skin on my ears this was amazing at sorting it out in a matter of days, after applying this morning and night for about 3 days my ears where back to normal.

Although it is a really thick lotion but it sinks in to the skin really quickly and easily, providing instant hydration. It honestly doesnt feel in any way greasy and I feel completely confiden with putting this over makeup if I find any really dry patches through out the day. But all good things come at a price this stuff smells horrible, however it only lasts while it is sinking in so Im sure it is something that I can learn to live with.

A full size costs £13.50 for a 33ml bottle and it can be brought from their website

Organic Surge Volume Boost Conditioner

This product was delivered to my door in the June Glossy box and it had not left my sample draw until recently when we didn't have any conditioner so I got this out for a try. And seeing as I finished this up I thought I would let you know my feelings.
This is a condition for fine/fly away hair so I expected it to work well for me because I have thin hair which has a tendency to get knotty and the condition claims that it will 'gently de-tangle' but it doesn't have silicones and other products that will weigh your hair down in it, which that in itself if going to help keep volume in your hair. As the brand name would suggest there is plant extracts in the condition that provide a range of benefits including enhancing fine hair.

After reading about this product and seeing what it claims I was expecting big things from it, but I didnt find that it lived up to all it said it would. My hair was de-tangled and it did feel soft but I cant say that I got any really volume from it. However I think when used with the matching shampoo your more likely to get volume I dont put condition at the roots of my hair which is where the volume will be so remember I only used the conditioner. The scent of this is amazing, its like a mix of mint and lavender but sadly the scent doesn't last in your hair after you have washed it out and I always like it when product scents last in my hair and people comment on.

This retails for £5.99 from supermarkets and the Organic Surge website

Beauty UK CC Cream

Got this little gem in my January Glossybox and I tried this out purely because I have such oily skin in the summer I am always looking for lighter alternatives to foundation and I have pretty much used this whole thing up.
BB Creams hadn't really worked for me so I didnt even think to try a CC Cream and this one has made me really want to try others.
For those of you that are out of the loop, a CC cream is a color correcting cream with lots of beneficial properties for your skin while being a light alternative to a foundation. As well as light reflecting pigments and providing hydration to this skin this contains SPF 30 so it is perfect if you are in a rush or are someone who often forgets to apply sunscreen in the morning - we all do it - it will protect your skin in the summer time.

This honestly has the coverage of a light to medium coverage foundation without feeling heavy on your skin, it just doesnt even feel like you have anything on. There are light diffusing pigments which are put in to illuminate your skin which it does do to give a healthy finish but you dont end up looking like a hot shiney mess by the end of the day which is a problem I have found with other foundation type products that contain similar pigments. So when it is topped off with powder if is perfect for oily skin because you stay shine free for the whole day without looking matte, there is so more glowy bits to your face.

This is the perfect for those who are just getting in to makeup because its not going to clog your skin like a foundation is likely to. You can put a small amount on and blend it out, or apply as much as you need/want without it looking too much.

I have the product in the shade fawn and for something that I got in Glossybox and didnt get to pick the shade it is a pretty good match, I do have to make sure I really blend it into my neck and its all good.

The only thing that I dont like about this product is the packaging, I would have rather this been in a bottle with a pump because I find that with the squeeze bottle that it is in always means that I get too much product out so I am getting through this faster than I should.

You can get this from Superdrug stores which stock Beauty UK for £4.99.
